Crimefighter

First appearance:

003 - Obvious

Captain Obvious is really Matt Parker in the day, until at night when he becomes a superhero. He is known for pointing out the obvious instead of saving the day. He has no known enemies and has a sidekick called Raccoon Man, who is really Jim. He has no vehicle like other superheroes and always has to ride the bus so he can get to the crime scene. Matt soon became not the only of the main characters to have their own superhero form as he was included in a project with other deviantART users that called the four the Quad Squad, along with other characters.

Background

The origin of Captain Obvious is unknown but he is Matt Parker when he becomes a superhero to what he thinks saves the day. He has a sidekick, who is Jim, named Captain Raccoon, who actually fights crime with him and does all of the work mostly. In one comic, while changing into Captain Obvious, Matt forgot to wear his costume under his clothes. Since he has no ride, he has to ride to bus, unlike many other superheroes. He usually is late for the crime scene, as evidenced in his first appearance, and never makes it on time. Much to the bus driver and the riders on the bus' annoyance, he only has pennies for when he is going to ride on the bus.

Enemies

Captain Obvious does not have any enemies as of now, although he did go the crime scene when a woman's purse was stolen from her so his first enemy could be considered a criminal.

Concept and creation

The name, "Captain Obvious", comes from a phrase that people can people when they point out the obvious. BuddyComics' friend who also inspired Matt Parker and Jim, was often called that sometimes which inspired the name of the character. The design of Captain Obvious was inspired by the colors of Mysterion from the South Park episode, "The Coon."

Reception

Captain Obvious is a fan favorite as is Matt and both are included in several pieces of fan art.
